Worms, Germany, 17 June 2018 – KOBIL, a leading provider of digital identity and application security solutions, today announced that it has been identified as a Representative Vendor in the Gartner “Market Guide for Application Shielding” report. KOBIL was named in the application shielding vendor’s category among 14 other providers.

According to Gartner, “the (application shielding) market experienced considerable growth with the proliferation of mobile apps, which move a portion of the programming logic, processing, sensitive operations and data from the application back end to the app that runs on the mobile device.” With mobile, IoT and modern web applications, some of the software logic, processing, sensitive operations and data from the application backend migrates to the app running on the mobile device. For the app itself, especially the consumer-facing one, the mobile device is an untrusted and foreign environment.

Nevertheless, today only five percent of companies protect mobile, IoT and JavaScript-critical applications. Gartner predicts, “by 2020, 0{d05ed2fcafd13be8f8206dca969478b02082b437556910654bb4db0d96a45814} of enterprises will use application shielding to protect at least one of their mobile, IoT and JavaScript critical applications, up from 5{d05ed2fcafd13be8f8206dca969478b02082b437556910654bb4db0d96a45814} today,“ and “by 2021, more than half of enterprises that use application shielding will do so via a single, multichannel application protection platform.“

KOBIL’s mIDentity Application Security Technology (mAST) provides an end-to-end encrypted security platform to protect both native and WebView-based apps. With this technology, KOBIL uses the integrated Dual-7-Layers-of-Security to combine security, trust and communication elements. KOBIL’s Trusted App works with the KOBIL Smart Security Management Server which acts as a Trust Center and thus guarantees a secure execution environment before, during and after using the app. This not only protects the app itself, but also the identity of the person, sensitive data and all communication via the second encrypted KOBIL Digitanium™ Channel. The market-proven Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) solution can be easily and quickly integrated as a Software Development Kit (SDK) into any mobile development environment and used immediately.

With the extension of Trusted App, both native and hybrid (WebView) apps can be protected in a binding and reliable manner using KOBIL’s Trusted WebView. This technology is the only one in the world that meets the requirements for strong customer authentication and authorization of transactions on a single app and device. Both mobile SDK solutions fully comply with the General Data Protection Regulation, the new Payment Services Directive PSD2 and the eIDAS regulation.

“We believe that everything on earth will have the capacity to communicate with each other. Secure, binding and reliable identities and communication are crucial for this.”, says Ismet Koyun, founder and CEO of KOBIL. “For this, our holistic approach for mobile and desktop experiences offers application shielding as well as strong customer authentication, transaction authorization, trusted onboarding and digital signatures for any digital process. We believe being named by Gartner as a representative vendor reinforces our solution’s value to our customers and business partners.”
