White-Labelled Mobile and Desktop Apps for Wirecard’s Corporate Banking Customers
Introducing The Wirecard Group
With more than 5,300 employees, The Wirecard Group is one of the world’s fastest-growing providers of financial technology. Its systems and services facilitate online, mobile and at the point-of-sale digital payments.
It serves more than 279,000 companies spread across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and Asia Pacific. The Wirecard Group also holds a banking license.
To prepare for the full introduction of the revised EU Payment Services Directive (PSD2) in September 2019, The Wirecard Group embarked on a mission to ensure it met all its regulatory obligations.
The Wirecard Group uses Temenos for its core banking system while operating its own solution for internet banking. It wanted to ensure its internet and corporate banking systems were both fully compliant with PSD2, giving it the credibility to enhance its reputation and positioning in several key markets.
To meet PSD2 regulations, The Wirecard Group adopted a two-app approach delivered through a completely cloud-based solution from KOBIL.
A KOBIL white-labelled mobile app, complete with Wirecard branding, was implemented across its corporate banking customer base. The app was used as a second factor to confirm login and financial transactions.
A separate desktop app, also featuring Wirecard branding, was offered to customers unable or unwilling to use their smartphones.
KOBIL’s combination of app shielding, stronger customer authentications and protected transaction authorizations were key attractions for The Wirecard Group. These are delivered through our Smart Security Management Server, PKI-based authentication, end-to-end encryption and virtual smart card technology.
As well as meeting major industry regulations, KOBIL’s white-labelled app enables The Wirecard Group’s corporate banking customers to enjoy increased confidence that all their data and financial details are securely transmitted and unreachable by malicious cyber-attackers.
