KOBIL is now expanding its KOBIL Secovid Softtoken product line by a one time password application for the iPhone. The device along with the application and PIN result in highly secure two factor authentication using a one time password generator. The solution offers optimal protection of sensitive password-protected applications. From January 2010 on the application will be offered in every Apple Appstore worldwide.
For the world’s most famous cell phone, the iPhone, KOBIL has developed a special application enabling highly secure log on via two factor authentication. It is based on KOBIL’s one time password technology SecOVID. The user only has to know their PIN - the password itself is generated by the SecOVID application on the iPhone. SecOVID generates an 8-digit numeric code, which is created randomly using a 3DES algorithm and it is valid only once. Depending on the individualization through the provider, the user can even access their designated portal directly with the iPhone, e.g. their banking portal. With this new application by KOBIL, the cell phone becomes the key for sensitive transactions worthy of protection, which the user whishes to conduct.

This way, KOBIL does not only fulfill the increasing demand for such a solution, but it also enables banking customers to e.g. do their online banking in a highly secure way via the application on their iPhone. This works by simply starting the SecOVID app by KOBIL, which will automatically transfer users to their banking portal. Doing online banking by using your iPhone cannot be achieved in a more secure or convenient way today”, says Umit Usta, member of the executive board of KOBIL Systems.
